CHARACTERS
NOTE: All roles can be played by actors of any gender. The pronouns listed below denote how select characters are currently gendered throughout the script, but pronouns should be shifted as relevant.
THE RED GIANTS
A galactic garage band made up of a group of friends who are little, unknown stars in a galaxy far, far away.
ASTRA: The lead singer who is optimistically ambitious and desperate to get her negligent family to notice her
NOVA: The timid songwriter and keyboard player, who is determined to maintain her friendships, especially with Astra who was the only star who ever believed in her
LUNA: The fashionable rhythm guitar player, who is focused on cultivating their look
STELLA: Diva’s younger sibling who is vying for a great kazoo solo
LEO: The bongos/triangle/cowbell/gong player who is just in it for the free snacks
COMET: The band’s documentarian and their biggest (and first) fan
THE METEORITES
An intense, make-up & costume wearing rock band of meteors that was once the biggest in the galaxy (secretly very zen and calm).
PEBBLES: The leader of the Meteorites and their hardcore guitar player
ROCKY: A band member of the Meteorites.
RUBBLE: A band member of the Meteorites.
IGGY STARDUST: A band member of the Meteorites.
ARIANA GRANITE: A band member of the Meteorites.
STAGE MANAGER: The venue manager who is very intimidated by The Meteorites’ intensity (*actor could play both this role and the sound engineer and/or newscaster)
METEORITES ENSEMBLE: Flexible.
THE BLACK HOLES
An emo band of black holes that have gained their fame by being very, very dramatic.
PRIM: A band member of the Black Holes.
MASS: A band member of the Black Holes.
INTER: A band member of the Black Holes.
SUPER: A band member of the Black Holes.
ULTRA: A band member of the Black Holes.
SOUND ENGINEER: The overworked and overtired engineer running the recording session for the Black Holes (*actor could play both this role and the sound engineer and/or newscaster)
