First Day of Musicville Rehearsal at Children’s Musical Theater Festival
The cast of Musicville during their first read-through.
Today kicked off the week-long workshop of Musicville at the Children’s Musical Theatre Festival.
I was lucky enough to sit-in on the first read-through this morning (picture to the right), and I can’t tell you how impressed I was with the talent of these young actors!
One of the great joys of being a writer is sitting back during a rehearsal and listening to your show come to life in the hands of talented artists.
And boy is this show in great hands. Musicville is being directed by Stephanie Fritto and music directed by Sarah Statler, both have tons of professional theatre experience. As I walked in Stephanie was already excitedly telling me about the fantastic staging ideas she had for the opening number…such great energy!
And in a testament to how small the theatre-world is, Stephanie was in the same cast as my collaborator Betina Hershey in a professional touring production of West Side Story a few years back.
Can’t wait to see this show develop throughout the week. Below is a full cast list of the young actors performing in Musicville:
Sydney Bell
Amanda Yuan
Andrew Apy
Carly Baron
Christina Watson
Egan Mills
Elsa Chung
Emily Joy Vaeth
